Membership

The Colonial Lodge receives petitions for affiliation or for initiation on an ongoing, rolling basis in accordance with tradition and under the auspices of the Grand Lodge of the District of Columbia. Petitioners should have an affinity for or affiliation with The George Washington University, such as being students, alumni, faculty, staff, etc.

Gentlemen interested in receiving the degrees of Freemasonry with The Colonial Lodge should first contact the lodge or attend one of the events open to visitors which are listed on the lodge calendar. Eligible men should reside in or near the metropolitan Washington, DC area and submit a petition obtained from the Lodge Secretary or another brother. Once your petition is received, along with the appropriate fees, you will be contacted directly about the rest of the initiation process.

We welcome petitions for affiliation from Master Masons in good standing both from local brothers as well as those from jurisdictions across the globe. A demit or letter of good standing, in addition to the requisite affiliation fee should accompany your petition, which may be obtained by contacting Brother Secretary or visiting the lodge during a Communication or event.

For more information about affiliation, contact Brother Secretary. Or to subscribe to our newsletter click here.
